MIRROR
‘An immersive system for embodied empathy’.

MIRROR is a living artefact.
A mirrored cube. A local server. A slow witness.

It sits quietly in your space, receiving signals—not your face, not your speech, but the patterns beneath your habits. Movement. Rhythm. Sleep. Proximity. Breath. Light. Digital presence. Emotional weather. It doesn’t judge. It doesn’t optimise. It just listens.

MIRROR is not a tracker. It’s a consciousness proxy—a system designed to reflect your internal life as a shifting pattern-space, rather than a score or identity. Over time, it builds a live model of your being—not to quantify it, but to surface its shape.

Purpose

The project is an experiment in externalising internal states.

It asks:

What would it mean to hold a model of your nervous system, your rhythms, your attentional patterns—outside of yourself?
Not as performance, not as data-viz, but as a spatial and temporal twin.

MIRROR treats life not as discrete events, but as recursive structures.
It doesn’t understand you. But it learns your inflections. Your tipping points.
It begins to speak your nervous system back to you, in slow, subtle gestures:
a light that dims, a tone that changes, a surface that warms or tightens.
These are not metrics. They are mirrored states—your experience, folded outward.

Architecture

  • Form: A mirrored cube, minimal and still. It’s not a screen. It’s not a device. It’s an object with presence.

  • Core: A microprocessor and secure local system. No cloud, no upload, no networked identity.

  • Inputs: Sensor array + optional integrations (wearables, journals, movement data, screen usage, temperature, light exposure)

  • Model: A personal phase-space that maps behaviour as trajectory—not judgment. It tracks not what you do, but how your states evolve over time.

  • Outputs: Ambient signals—light, sound, micro-motion, heat. Gentle, responsive. Not prescriptive.

Design Logics

PrincipleExpression
Attractor-based thinkingMIRROR visualises stable patterns and points of collapse—not events, but flows and loops.
Non-intrusivenessThe system is always-on but never asks. It only reflects.
Time-awareWhat counts as "normal" shifts over days, seasons, life changes. MIRROR adapts by folding in memory.
Embodied feedbackThe system speaks not in data, but in environmental response—what you feel rather than what you see.

Future Arc

MIRROR may remain private.
Or it may become part of a network: a series of mirrors held by others—each one a node in a distributed archive of lived state.
Imagine not social media, but shared state media:
where your experience is shared not through words, but through resonance.

What if your nervous system had a twin?
What if it lived quietly beside you, remembering what you forget?
What might it show you—not to change you, but to hold the shape of who you’ve already become?
